For the semi-curious...

Why Francis?

Francis seems like your regular, run-of-the-mill villain at first, and the game in-and-of itself is pretty poorly scripted. I mean Lloyd has 2 friends die along the way and after the battle to save the world is over, he goes and rummages through the debris, grabs the Staff, pushes past his girlfriend (who, in tears, asks him if that was all he ever cared about) and he goes on his way.

And the most terrible game ending of the year goes to....

But alas Dear Francis, he had far more depth to him. In truth, he was an honest soul. He is of noble blood and breeding and it shows. There is a saying: 'To one person, you may mean the world', well that was how he felt for Brimhild. He casts aside his duty to walk the path of righteousness as a knight, willing to see the world consumed in flames to see her happy...

In the end, he simply cannot turn a blind eye. He loves Brimhild too much to stop her, but knows she cannot go on: he will no longer hinder Lloyd and Co. in stopping her, but he will not help him either, so he chooses death in a sense. He sees the fatal blow coming towards him and hesitates.

All in all, Astonishia Story is decent enough to pass the time, but it is a far cry from being epic or unforgettable
